Reaction of Ru3(CO)9(MeCN)3 with
monosubstituted alkynes (HC[equivalence]CR) leads predominantly to the
corresponding acetylide complex HRu(CO)9(C[equivalence]CR).
These results compare with those for
Ru3(CO)11(MeCN) and
Ru3(CO)10(MeCN)2 where the acetylide is
formed.
Reaction of Ru3(CO)9(MeCN)3 with
di-substituted alkynes (RC[equivalence]CR') leads to the formation of the
corresponding hexa-substituted arene cluster
Ru3(CO)9(C6R3R'3).
