New surface
active-hybrids of unusual scale and architechture. To
produce an entirely new class of surfactants in which the hydrophilic
head group is a macrocyclic cavitand (cucurbituril) and the hydrophobic
tail is either an aliphatic chain or an oligomeric or polymeric telechelic.
The synthetic methodology has a high degree of flexibility and thus
is not restricted to a particular type of aliphatic chain, oligomer
or polymer. The unusual scale and relative proportions of head and
tail groups of the proposed surfactants are more than likely to result
in unprecedented solution properties. |
